21st May 2022 – (Hong Kong) The police launched anti-crime operation yesterday (20th). Sham Shui Po Police District Special Duty Team and Sham Shui Po Divisional Miscellaneous Investigation Team raided a unit on Cheung Sha Wan Road at about 10pm, smashed a suspected unlicensed upstairs bar, and arrested a 57-year-old woman on suspicion of “selling alcohol without a licence”, “operating unlicensed karaoke establishment” and violating epidemic prevention regulations. 17 men and 7 women (aged 43 to 73) were arrested in the unit on suspicion of violating “drinking in a place without a liquor licence” and violating epidemic prevention regulations. They were issued fixed penalty notices. During the operation, the police seized a total of 263 cans of beer and a batch of audio equipment. All arrested men and women are being detained for investigation.
In addition, the Yau Tsim Police District Special Duty Team also raided a residential unit at 512 Nathan Road, Yau Ma Tei at about 7 pm on the same day, and smashed a suspected baccarat gambling den. The woman (47 years old) in the unit was arrested for “managing gambling establishment” and violating the Prevention and Control of Disease (Prohibition on Gathering) Regulations, 4 men, 7 women locals and a Mainland man (aged 38 to 74) holding a two-way permit were arrested on suspicion of gambling in illegal gambling establishment.
They were also arrested for violating the gathering ban and were issued fixed penalty notices. During the operation, the police seized 2 baccarat tables, 4 TV screens, gambling money of about HK$14,000 and chips of about HK$70,000.
Meanwhile, the Sau Mau Ping Police District Anti-Triad Action Team also raided a residential unit on Hong Ning Road and smashed a suspected illegal baccarat gambling den. The man in charge of the unit (29 years old) was arrested on suspicion of “managing gambling establishment” and violating the “gathering ban”. There were 5 men, 4 women and 1 mainland woman (aged 31 to 66) on suspicion of “gambling at the venue”. They were also arrested for violating the gathering ban and were issued fixed penalty notices by the police. All arrested persons are being detained. In addition, the operation seized chips with a face value of about HK$1,300, gambling money of HK$7,500 and a large amount of gambling paraphernalia.
