Audi crash in Kowloon Tong injures 69-year-old pedestrian, driver abandons vehicle

17th January 2025 – (Hong Kong) A serious traffic incident occurred in Kowloon Tong at 2.39pm today, when a taxi travelling along Waterloo Road towards Sha Tin was struck by an Audi that reportedly changed lanes abruptly. The accident unfolded near the intersection of Hereford Road, where the Audi first collided with a safety island railing before impacting the taxi.

A 69-year-old woman standing on the safety island was unable to evade the oncoming vehicle, sustaining injuries to her hands and legs. She was promptly transported to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for treatment.

Upon arrival at the scene, police discovered that the driver of the Audi had fled and was unaccounted for. The taxi driver, a 44-year-old man named Ng, remained on-site to assist with the investigation. Witnesses reported extensive damage to the safety island railing, with debris strewn across the roadway. Authorities are currently investigating the incident and are actively pursuing the whereabouts of the Audi driver.
