Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi joins international jury for 81st Venice International Film Festival

12th July 2024 – (Venice) The prestigious 81st Venice International Film Festival, organized by La Biennale di Venezia and directed by Alberto Barbera, has finalized its International Jury for the Venezia 81 Competition, which will run from 28th August to 7th September 2024. The jury, composed of esteemed film personalities, will be responsible for awarding the coveted Golden Lion for Best Film and other official accolades.

As previously announced on 8th May, the International Jury will be chaired by renowned French actress Isabelle Huppert. Joining her on the jury are distinguished members from the international film community. American director and screenwriter James Gray, British director and screenwriter Andrew Haigh, Polish director, screenwriter, and producer Agnieszka Holland, Brazilian director and screenwriter Kleber Mendonça Filho, Mauritanian director, screenwriter, and producer Abderrahmane Sissako, Italian director and screenwriter Giuseppe Tornatore, German director and screenwriter Julia von Heinz, and the esteemed Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi, known for her roles in “Memoirs of a Geisha” and “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.” Zhang Ziyi’s recent career has been thriving, and her appointment as a jury member for one of the world’s most prestigious film festivals further solidifies her prominence. As the sole representative from China this year, Zhang’s inclusion has garnered significant attention.
