
17th January 2025 – (Hong Kong) An update has been issued by the Hospital Authority concerning a recent cluster of COVID-19 cases, as communicated by the spokesperson for TWGHs Wong Tai Sin Hospital on 17th January.
In the latest development, a 42-year-old male patient from the same infirmary ward has contracted the Covid-19 virus during medical surveillance. The patient is currently receiving treatment in isolation and is reportedly in a stable condition.
To address this situation, the hospital has implemented intensified infection control measures within the affected ward, including thorough cleaning and disinfection procedures, enhanced screening for patients and the environment, and rigorous enforcement of droplet and contact precautions, alongside improved hand hygiene practices for both staff and patients.
The hospital is dedicated to maintaining these enhanced infection control measures and will closely monitor the situation within the ward. The case has been promptly reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow-up and monitoring.
