President Bidya Devi Bhandari has appointed the Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba the prime minister of Nepal.

The head of the state is scheduled to take the oath of office and secrecy at the President’s Office at 6 pm today itself. Deuba is also likely to induct a few ministers in the cabinet today itself, but he will give the full shape to it later.

Earlier on Monday, the Supreme Court had issued an order to the President’s Office to appoint Deuba PM by 5 pm today while also reinstating the House of Representatives dissolved by the outgoing PM KP Sharma Oli.

This is the fifth term of Deuba as the country’s prime minister. He will now have to prove the House’s vote of confidence in him within the next 30 days as per the constitution.
