Two more COVID-19 cases detected in Ruttonjee Hospital geriatric infirmary ward

10th July 2024 – (Hong Kong) Ruttonjee Hospital has issued an update regarding the recent cluster of COVID-19 infections in its geriatric infirmary ward. Today, the hospital spokesperson revealed that two additional patients, aged 66 and 76 and both female, have developed fever symptoms. Subsequent tests were conducted, confirming that both patients have tested positive for COVID-19. Presently, these patients are receiving treatment in cohort isolation, and their conditions remain stable.

In response to these developments, Ruttonjee Hospital has implemented heightened infection control measures in accordance with established guidelines. Close surveillance has been extended to all other patients within the ward to ensure their well-being and to detect any potential signs of infection promptly. The hospital has duly reported these new cases to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection. These relevant authorities will undertake the necessary follow-up actions to manage the situation effectively.
