23rd July 2021 – (Hong Kong) The police received a report this morning (23rd) that someone online claimed that a bomb would be planted at the Wan Chai Police Headquarters today. The police did not find it after conducting a search. The case was classified as “bomb hoax” and was handed over to the Wan Chai Police District Criminal Investigation Team for follow-up. No one has been arrested yet.
The police emphasised that false reporting of bomb is a serious crime. According to Article 28 of the Public Security Ordinance, anyone who commits a bomb intimidation offence can be sentenced to a fine of HK$150,000 and imprisonment for 5 years once convicted.
