16th January 2025 – (Hong Kong) Hong Kong is set to host its first major exhibition featuring the iconic French Impressionist masters, Paul Cézanne and Pierre-Auguste Renoir. Titled Cézanne and Renoir Looking at the World – Masterpieces from the Musée de l’Orangerie and the Musée d’Orsay, this exhibition will run from 17th January to 7th May 2025 at the Hong Kong Museum of Art’s Special Gallery.
This unprecedented event showcases 52 masterpieces from the prestigious collections of the Musée de l’Orangerie and the Musée d’Orsay, aiming to foster a dialogue between the two artists. Visitors will be invited to step into the artists’ creative realms, simulating a journey that begins on a French train platform, thus offering new insights into their lives and the deep friendship they shared.
Cézanne (1839 – 1906) and Renoir (1841 – 1919) are celebrated not only for their artistic innovations but also for their influence on successive generations of painters, including the likes of Pablo Picasso. Their works encapsulate the essence of the Impressionist movement, capturing the rapidly changing modern world with a fresh perspective.
The exhibition is solely sponsored by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust and is presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department in collaboration with the Hong Kong Museum of Art, the Musée de l’Orangerie, and the Musée d’Orsay. It is coordinated by Manifesto Expo.
Tickets for the exhibition are available for purchase up to seven days in advance at all URBTIX outlets and self-service ticketing kiosks. Holders of Museum Passes will enjoy complimentary admission. Standard ticket prices are set at HK$50, with concessions for groups and individuals.
