7th January 2025 – (Beijing) China has confirmed for the first time that President Xi Jinping has been in communication with U.S. President-elect Donald Trump as he prepares to return to the White House. This revelation follows Trump’s recent interview with American conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt, where he mentioned that he and Xi had already been conversing through representatives, expressing optimism about their future relationship.

Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun responded to Trump’s remarks, stating that Beijing “attaches importance” to the dialogue. He said that China and the U.S. have maintained communication.

Guo further reiterated China’s readiness to collaborate with the U.S., adhering to principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation. He underscored the goal of fostering stable, healthy, and sustainable growth in China-U.S. relations for the benefit of both countries and the global community.
