10th January 2025 – (Beijing) China experienced a notable 25.7% reduction in criminal cases in 2024 compared to the previous year, as announced by the Ministry of Public Security on Friday, coinciding with the country’s fifth National Police Day.
During a press conference, the ministry stated that cases related to public security remained relatively stable, contributing to an overall secure environment across the nation.
Road traffic safety has also shown improvement, with no major traffic accidents reported for 63 consecutive months, indicating a consistent trend in road safety across the country.
In terms of law enforcement achievements, public security authorities successfully resolved over 17,000 cases concerning food and drug safety violations. The police also tackled more than 78,000 economic crimes, recovering approximately 30.67 billion yuan (around 4.27 billion U.S. dollars) in financial losses.
Moreover, law enforcement agencies dismantled 38,000 drug-related cases, resulting in the seizure of 24.4 tonnes of various illegal substances.
