12th January 2025 – (Beijing) China’s small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) demonstrated improved business performances during the period between October and December 2024, as revealed by a recent report from the China Association of Small and Medium Enterprises released on Sunday.
The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Index, derived from a comprehensive survey involving 3,000 SMEs spanning across eight key industries, recorded a figure of 89.0 in the final quarter of last year, marking a marginal increase of 0.1 points compared to the previous quarter.
This index encompasses various sub-indexes designed to assess the operational performances and anticipations of SMEs within the sector.
Noteworthy improvements were observed in the sub-indexes related to industrial production, construction, and transportation, while the sub-index measuring SMEs’ confidence in the macroeconomy remained consistent when juxtaposed with the third quarter, in accordance with the report findings.
A gradual upturn in both confidence levels and market demand among China’s SMEs has been noted, resulting in a notable surge in development vigour, as highlighted by the association.
