8th January 2025 – (Bangkok) Thai police have confirmed that Chinese actor Wang Xing, who was allegedly trafficked to Myanmar, was handed over to authorities in Thailand on Tuesday afternoon. Currently, he is under the care of the Mae Sot police station, where he is reported to be safe and in a stable condition. However, Wang is not yet permitted to receive visitors or leave the facility as he requires further evaluation.

According to police sources, Wang was indeed shaved bald while in Myanmar, and the details surrounding his ordeal—including how he was deceived and sought help—are still being compiled for public disclosure. Initial reports from Thai authorities indicate that upon his arrival at the Mae Sot border, he was taken across by boat. Wang stated that he only realised he had been duped once he was on the other side but felt unable to resist.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing, with further inquiries and a thorough review planned. Wang is set to enter Thailand’s national referral system, and if he is confirmed as a victim of human trafficking, he will be placed under protective procedures. The Thai immigration office will facilitate his return to China and coordinate with his family. Should any criminal activity be uncovered, it will be addressed in accordance with legal protocols.

Footage released by Thai news outlets shows Wang, accompanied by police, wearing a black hat that obscured his face. In the interview, he expressed his gratitude to the Thai authorities, stating, “Firstly, I want to thank the Thai government and the local Immigration Bureau for bringing me back safely. Thailand is quite safe, and I hope to return here in the future if given the chance.”

The Chinese Embassy in Thailand has also acknowledged the successful rescue of Wang, thanking the Thai government and other involved parties for their effective efforts.
