5th January 2025 – (Hong Kong) Recently, a determined 21-year-old university student undertook a remarkable journey from Beijing to Hong Kong, completing the trip in 13 days and spending less than 800 yuan. His goal was to highlight the efficiency and reach of China’s public transportation network.
According to reports, the young man meticulously planned his route, dedicating an entire day to research and organizing 120 different bus lines. He began his travels each day before dawn, navigating through over 3,100 bus stops along the way.
In total, his transportation costs amounted to 793.6 yuan, while his overall expenses, including accommodation and activities, reached approximately 2,800 yuan. He expressed that his experience aimed to demonstrate the extensive capabilities of the national transport system.
His adventurous undertaking has sparked various reactions online; some praised it as a meaningful journey, while others deemed it a frivolous endeavour. Comparisons were also made to cycling from Beijing to Hong Kong, which can cost around 10,000 yuan, including equipment and daily expenses.
