17th January 2025 – (Beijing) At approximately 7.47am today, a crane truck lost control on Sha Tau Kok Road (Lung Yeuk Tau), sweeping through a covered bus stop and nearby railings. The driver failed to stop following the incident, prompting concerned pedestrians to attempt to intervene. The vehicle continued for about 400 metres before coming to a halt due to a tyre blowout.

Rescue team arrived on the scene to find that the driver was neither trapped nor injured. However, the crane truck sustained extensive damage, including a shattered windscreen and a blown left front tyre, while the bus stop signage and railings were left in ruins. Investigations revealed that the vehicle had already been involved in a series of collisions 2.8 kilometres away in Kan Tau Tsuen, where it struck a lamp post, a parked car, and roadside flower pots without causing any injuries.

Eyewitness accounts indicate that the driver, who resides in Kan Tau Tsuen, ignored the initial collisions and continued driving. After demolishing the bus stop and railings, the vehicle struck another set of railings approximately 200 metres down the road before finally stopping due to the blowout.

Police conducted alcohol and drug tests on the driver at the scene, confirming he had not consumed any substances. However, he was subsequently arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, with the incident still under investigation.
