4th May 2024 – (Hong Kong) Operated by the German non-profit organisation “GBA Ships,” the “Doulos Hope” ship has made its inaugural visit to Hong Kong, marking its one-year anniversary since setting sail. Following the previous visit of another ship from GBA Ships, the “Logos Hope,” in 2015, the public now has the exciting opportunity to once again step aboard this floating book fair. Docked at the Ocean Terminal in Harbour City until 26th May, the ship provides an extraordinary experience for both local residents and visitors, taking them on a captivating literary journey. Onboard, the floating book fair showcases an impressive collection of over 2,000 English book titles and a variety of souvenirs, all available at affordable prices.

For those interested in visiting the ship, public sessions will be held from 4th May to 26th May, except on Mondays. The opening hours are from 12.30pm to 8.15pm, and online pre-registration is required. The ship is located at the Passenger Waiting Hall on Level 2 of the Ocean Terminal, opposite shop OTE202 TSUKADA NOJO.

To board and explore the ship, individuals must book tickets in advance through the official website at https://gbaships.littleboxoffice.com/. Ticket reservations for the upcoming seven days can be made every Sunday evening. Upon boarding, a fee of HK$20 will be collected by the crew members at the entrance of the floating book fair (cash only). Children under 12 years old, accompanied by an adult, and senior citizens aged 65 and above can enter for free, but they are still required to book tickets in advance. It is important for all visitors to bring their personal identification documents for the boarding process. Cash and credit card payments are accepted onboard.

The arrival of the “Doulos Hope” ship, with a team of approximately 100 volunteers from different countries and regions, aims to share knowledge and provide assistance to people worldwide. During their stay in Hong Kong, the team will engage in various community activities, including collaborations with organisations such as “Ultimate United” and “Praxis Charity” to contribute to humanitarian projects. These initiatives involve food distribution, visiting refugees and asylum seekers residing in Hong Kong, and supporting rehabilitation programs.

On the evening of Friday, 10th May, the ship will host the “Hope Talks” event, featuring speeches and sharing sessions by active volunteer crew members from various countries and professional backgrounds. The event aims to inspire more young people and professionals to actively participate in voluntary work and contribute to society. Tickets for the event are priced at HKD 30. The “Doulos Hope” ship will be docked in Hong Kong from 4th May to 26th May, with Mondays as the designated resting day. The ship will be open for visitors from 12.30pm to 8.15pm at the Passenger Waiting Hall on Level 2 of the Ocean Terminal.
