11th January 2025 – (Hong Kong) A dramatic traffic accident unfolded in Sai Kung today around 6.47pm, as multiple motorists reported a black car crashing into a wall near Mau Tai Road Garden on Hiram’s Highway. The vehicle appeared to have lost control, subsequently veering off the road and into nearby bushes.
Moments later, the car began to emit smoke and was quickly engulfed by flames. The male driver initially remained inside the vehicle but was alerted by concerned bystanders who urged him to escape. He managed to exit the car, albeit with injuries, and was promptly transported to Tseung Kwan O Hospital for treatment.
Firefighters arrived on the scene with firefighting equipment, and after approximately half an hour, they successfully extinguished the blaze. Footage from the incident showed the car’s airbags deploying, trapping the driver briefly in the driver’s seat, with blood visible on his face. Bystanders rushed to assist, shouting, “It’s on fire! Hurry out! Quickly!” The driver later stumbled from the vehicle and collapsed on the roadside, groaning in pain.
