6th January 2025 – (Hong Kong) The Leisure and Cultural Services Department has announced that the opening hours of the Hong Kong Public Libraries’ students’ study rooms will be extended from 1st March to 31st May to accommodate the examination period. Those wishing to utilise the study room service can apply for admission cards starting today, either in person or by post. Application forms and detailed regulations are available at participating public libraries and on the HKPL website.

The application deadline is 3rd February, with the postmark date on the envelope serving as the application date. Results will be posted on the notice boards of the respective public libraries between 21st and 28th February. Only registered borrowers of the HKPL are eligible to apply, with priority given to candidates preparing for major public and professional examinations. Each applicant may submit only one application and select one session for access.

From 1st March to 7th May, an admission card is required, with morning, afternoon, and evening sessions available on specified weekdays and weekends. After 8th May, access will be on a first-come, first-served basis, with no admission card necessary, and extended hours will be in effect.

This arrangement applies to study rooms at various public libraries across Hong Kong. The HKPL reserves the right to modify opening hours or admission procedures in response to public health concerns or other circumstances. For the latest updates and enquiries, individuals can contact their local library or the Customer Hotline at 2921 0208.
