4th January 2025 – (Zangjiakou) A fire broke out at Liguang Market in the Qiaoxi District of Zhangjiakou, Hebei Province, on Saturday. Authorities confirmed that the blaze has been extinguished, but not before claiming the lives of 8 individuals and injuring 15 others by 2pm that day.
Photos from the scene reveal flames engulfing the market, with thick smoke billowing into the sky. Firefighters quickly responded to the emergency, while a crowd of onlookers gathered outside the market to witness the unfolding events. Investigations are currently underway to determine the cause of the fire.
The local government has expressed its condolences to the victims’ families and is prioritising support for those affected by this fatal incident.
