11th January 2025 – (Hong Kong) A fire was reported at approximately 5.31pm today near Kai Kung Leng in Lam Tsuen, Pat Heung. Following the initial alert, numerous residents began to notify the authorities about the situation. It has been confirmed that an active fire line, measuring around 80 metres, has emerged, prompting the deployment of firefighters for emergency response.

By 6.27pm, a male and female hiker reported difficulties escaping the area due to smoke and strong winds. Rescue teams were able to establish communication with them and are currently en route to assist.

Social media users have shared compelling images of the blaze, showing intense flames and thick smoke filling the sky with a vivid orange hue.

The Hong Kong Observatory has issued a Red Fire Danger Warning, indicating an extremely high risk of fire incidents. The Observatory highlighted that the northeast monsoon during the autumn and winter months brings dry continental air, reducing humidity levels and increasing the likelihood of fires, particularly under clear, sunny conditions. Even a small spark can escalate into a significant blaze.
