16th January 2025 – (Hong Kong) A brazen robbery took place yesterday at Nam Fung Jewellery on San Fung Avenue, where four masked assailants stormed the store, shattering display cases and making off with a haul of gold items valued at approximately $1.5 million. The suspects fled the scene in a black BMW, but their escape was thwarted when the vehicle collided with another car near the Ng Tung Chai roundabout.
At around 6.30pm, the assailants, equipped with hoods and gloves, executed the theft in under 30 seconds, managing to seize 86 pieces of jewellery. Fortunately, the store contained four employees and two customers at the time, but no injuries were reported as an alarm was triggered during the incident.
Following the collision, three of the suspects fled on foot towards the nearby hills, while the police conducted a search of the abandoned vehicle. They recovered clothing worn by the robbers during the heist, as well as five gold bracelets found on a hillside nearby.
Acting on intelligence, police later raided a two-storey stone house in Pat Heung, approximately 1.8 kilometres from the crash site, where they apprehended a 23-year-old Pakistani national believed to be involved in the robbery. During the raid, officers also discovered five stolen gold chains at the scene.
