Food poisoning outbreak at Kowloon Bay’s Golden Lilies International Banquet Hall affects 138 in total

16th January 2025 – (Hong Kong) In a concerning development following the announcement of multiple food poisoning clusters associated with the Golden Lilies International Banquet Hall in Kowloon Bay, the Centre for Health Protection (CHP) has reported an additional outbreak. As of today, the cumulative total of infected individuals has risen to 138.

The latest cluster includes 18 people—one male and 17 females—who dined at the establishment on 11th January. Symptoms of food poisoning, such as vomiting, diarrhoea, nausea, abdominal pain, and fever, manifested between six and 68 hours post-meal.

The three clusters previously reported saw a significant increase in affected persons, climbing from 57 to 120. Overall, the four clusters now encompass 54 males and 84 females. Of those affected, 65 sought medical attention, with three requiring hospitalisation, although all have since been discharged after treatment.

The CHP has urged any patrons who dined at the Golden Lilies International Banquet Hall between 8th and 12th January and who have since developed gastrointestinal symptoms to contact their hotline at 2125 2372 for a health assessment. This hotline will remain operational until 24th January, with hours from 9am to 5pm on weekdays and 9am to 1pm on weekends. The public is also advised to seek immediate medical assistance if they experience symptoms such as fever or general malaise.
