5th September 2024 – (Hainan) The southern Chinese island province of Hainan has activated its second highest-level emergency response to Typhoon Yagi, according to the provincial disaster management authority.
Yagi, now classified as a super typhoon at level 17, is reported to be packing winds of up to 209 km per hour and is currently moving towards Hainan, as confirmed by the provincial meteorological bureau.
Authorities are urging residents to prepare for severe weather conditions and potential disruptions as the storm approaches. Emergency services are on standby to respond to any incidents caused by the typhoon’s impact.
