11th January 2025 – (Hong Kong) Reports indicate that a baggage conveyor system malfunction occurred at Hong Kong International Airport today, forcing staff to manually load luggage onto planes. This disruption affected at least two airlines, resulting in some flights departing without all their luggage, leaving passengers unable to retrieve their bags upon arrival.

Among the impacted flights was HK Express’s flight UO680 to Nagoya, Japan, where only about 60 pieces of luggage arrived with the passengers, prompting many to fill out forms at the airport to record their missing baggage. Additionally, a flight to Incheon, South Korea, was also affected, with passengers receiving notifications about delays in baggage handling due to “operational adjustments.”

Passengers on the flight to Nagoya reported a chaotic scene upon arrival, as many had no luggage and had to queue to register their details. The airline assured passengers that they would make every effort to ensure the prompt return of their belongings and requested contact information for further arrangements.

Online, several passengers expressed their frustration, noting that they were informed about delays and instructed to provide their hotel addresses for further assistance. Comments from individuals claiming to be airport staff suggested that the entire baggage conveyor system had completely failed, preventing luggage from being transported to the appropriate areas for loading onto the corresponding flights.
