10th January 2025 – (Hong Kong) Young mainland Chinese actor Wang Xing, who was recently rescued from a human trafficking scam in Myawaddy, Myanmar, has sparked online discussions about the safety of travel to Thailand. In light of these concerns, Eason Chan has announced the cancellation of his scheduled concert in Bangkok on 22nd February.

Lisa Kan, Eason’s manager, stated, “After closely following the news and discussing the situation, we decided it is not worth risking the safety of fans and their families travelling to Thailand for the concert. We would rather look for a more suitable time to hold the event. We understand that many Thai locals and overseas Chinese are very disappointed by this cancellation, and we sincerely apologise. We hope to return in the future.”

In an official statement, the management team addressed fans:

“Dear fans,

Since announcing Eason Chan’s FEAR and DREAMS world tour stop in Bangkok, we have been overwhelmed by the tremendous enthusiasm from fans both locally and internationally. The Bangkok concert tickets sold out completely in December 2024. Your unwavering support and patience have motivated us throughout the planning process, and our team has been working hard to ensure an unforgettable experience for everyone.

However, the safety of our audience is our utmost priority. Considering the recent safety concerns for Chinese citizens and fans travelling to Thailand, we have made the cautious decision, after discussions with Eason, his management team, and the local organisers, to cancel the upcoming concert at IMPACT ARENA in Bangkok. We deeply apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

For those who purchased tickets through official platforms (limited to Thailand’s official platform: Thaiticketmajor; and China’s official platforms: Damai and Maoyan), full refunds will be issued within ten working days following this announcement.

Additionally, we reserve the right to pursue legal action against any defamatory remarks or false information about the artist or organisers appearing on social media.

We sincerely thank our fans for their understanding and support, and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.

As the Lunar New Year approaches, we also remind those planning to travel to exercise caution, verify information online, remain vigilant against strangers, and choose reputable transport and accommodation options to safeguard personal belongings and documents.

We wish everyone a Happy New Year and all the best for the upcoming year!”
