16th January 2025 – (Hong Kong) A dry northeast monsoon is currently enveloping Guangdong, resulting in generally pleasant weather across the region. In Hong Kong, temperatures dipped to around 13 degrees Celsius this morning, marking a notably cool start to the day.

Today’s weather forecast indicates fine and dry conditions, with urban areas experiencing a rather cool morning, while parts of the New Territories are expected to feel distinctly cold. The maximum temperature is projected to reach approximately 20 degrees during the day, accompanied by moderate north to northeasterly winds.

Looking ahead, tomorrow morning will remain cool in urban areas and cold in the New Territories. The weather will largely stay fine and dry over the next few days, with a slight increase in temperatures anticipated as the week progresses.

The broader weather situation in Hong Kong reflects the influence of the dry northeast monsoon, leading to generally fine conditions and cool mornings along the southern China coast. Inland regions will experience colder temperatures, highlighted by a significant difference between day and night readings. As the northeast monsoon begins to moderate early next week, temperatures are expected to rise gradually, with an easterly airstream set to introduce slightly cloudier conditions by midweek.
