5th September 2024 – (Shenzhen) On 31st August, a Hong Kong woman was apprehended at the Gongbei Port while attempting to smuggle six bottles of Moutai liquor concealed around her legs. According to the General Administration of Customs of China, the incident occurred around 7 p.m. when the woman, dressed in a black dress, entered mainland China through the customs “no declaration” channel.

Customs officers became suspicious of her stiff gait and the irregular bulges in her dress, prompting them to conduct a search. Upon inspection, they discovered the six bottles of Moutai, which were tightly bound with transparent film and elastic bandages around her thighs and calves.

The General Administration of Customs has reiterated that any attempt to conceal, disguise, or misreport goods in order to evade customs regulations is considered smuggling. Such actions, if deemed serious, can lead to criminal charges.
