1st August 2024 – (Hong Kong) Invest Hong Kong (InvestHK) announced today that Idea Co Ltd has opened the first Hong Kong location of its popular Tsuruhashi Fugetsu okonomiyaki restaurant chain, in partnership with AEON Stores (Hong Kong) Co, Limited. This strategic expansion is part of Tsuruhashi Fugetsu’s ongoing global growth plan to promote its authentic Osaka-style okonomiyaki to the world.
Tsuruhashi Fugetsu is a large-scale Japanese restaurant chain that specialises in okonomiyaki, a savoury pancake-like dish with a unique flavour, fresh ingredients and healthy recipes that has become a symbol of Osaka’s rich food culture. Each okonomiyaki is meticulously crafted, with the perfect batter-to-cabbage ratio and premium toppings like squid, shrimp, pork and beef in the signature “Fugetsu Yaki Mix” dish that enhances the delicious seafood flavours.
With a history of over 70 years in Japan, Tsuruhashi Fugetsu has been dedicated to preserving its traditional taste and hospitality. As part of its global expansion, the chain has already established locations in the United States, South Korea, Thailand and Taiwan, with the latter seeing particularly strong growth across Taipei, Taichung and Tainan. The Hong Kong opening with AEON Stores represents the brand’s first foray into the city, as it seeks to introduce its authentic Osaka-style okonomiyaki to a wider international audience.
