5th September 2024 – (Hong Kong) Hong Kong has issued its first No. 8 Northeast Gale or Storm Signal of the year at 6.20pm, indicating that mean wind speeds are expected to reach 63 kilometres per hour or more. As Super Typhoon Yagi approaches, currently situated approximately 340 kilometres south of the city, the local transport services are taking precautionary measures.
From 8.30pm this evening, all daytime routes operated by Kowloon Motor Bus (KMB) and Long Win Bus Company will be progressively suspended. However, a limited number of routes will continue to operate during the No. 8 signal, facilitating connections to MTR stations and border crossings until the last buses or further notice.
Affected routes include:
- North District: 70K, 78A, 273A
- Sha Tin: 80K, 81K, 83K, 85K, 86K, 87K, 285, 287
- Tai Po: 71A, 72K, 272A
- Kowloon East: 3M, 7M, 16M, 23M, 213M, 216M
- Tseung Kwan O: 296M
- Kwai Tsing and Tsuen Wan: 31M, 34M, 36, 37, 39, 248, 249
- Border routes: B1, B9, 276B
- Airport routes: S1, S64
Additionally, routes K12, K14, K17, and K18 will cease operations from 9.20pm, and all overnight services will also be suspended.
