5th January 2025 – (Gaza) At least 30 Palestinians have been reported killed, with several others missing, following a series of Israeli airstrikes across various locations in the Gaza Strip, according to Palestinian sources on Saturday.
Mahmoud Basal, spokesman for Gaza’s Civil Defense, informed Xinhua that Israeli aircraft targeted a residential building in the Shuja’iyya neighbourhood, east of Gaza City. Rescue teams were able to recover 11 bodies, including women and children, while also aiding several injured individuals.
The Al-Ahli Arab Hospital confirmed that three bodies, including that of an infant, were received due to an Israeli bombing in the Al-Daraj area, also east of Gaza City.
Additionally, Israeli aircraft attacked a vehicle transporting aid security personnel from a private company in Khan Younis, resulting in the deaths of six people and injuries to many others, as reported by local sources and eyewitnesses.
The Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis noted that eight others were killed, including a child and a woman, while 20 were wounded in strikes targeting two houses and a tent in western and central Khan Younis.
In the Al-Nuseirat refugee camp, two women were killed and eight others injured in an Israeli bombing, according to Al-Awda Hospital.
The health authorities in Gaza stated that the ongoing Israeli attacks have raised the Palestinian death toll to 45,717.
In a related development, the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, released a video featuring Liri Albag, a female Israeli hostage. In the video, she expressed concerns about the lack of priority given to hostages by the Israeli government and military, stating, “I am 19 years old… I spent more than 450 days in captivity in Gaza.”
Hamas also confirmed that indirect negotiations with Israel have resumed in Doha, Qatar, aiming for a complete ceasefire in Gaza. The group has previously accused Israel of stalling the ceasefire and hostage exchange by imposing new conditions. This marks the first video released by Al-Qassam regarding hostages in 2025.
