5th September 2024 – (Hong Kong) A serious incident occurred in Cheung Sha Wan today at around 2.30pm today, involving a maintenance worker and a delivery worker who both fell into an elevator shaft. The accident took place at Hoi Shing House, Hoi Tat Estate, where the maintenance worker reported that he was struck by the delivery personnel while performing his duties.
Emergency services were alerted, and the maintenance worker, who sustained a head injury, was found conscious but briefly trapped in the shaft. He managed to return to a safe position and was subsequently transported to Caritas Medical Centre for treatment. Fortunately, the delivery worker emerged unscathed and left the scene independently.
At the time of the incident, the elevator was scheduled for maintenance at 3 PM and was out of service until further repairs could be completed. Management had placed warning signs around the elevator to alert residents to the ongoing work.
