15th January 2025 – (Hong Kong) An officer from the National Security Department attempted to take his own life by seizing a fellow officer’s firearm at the Tsim Sha Tsui Police Station, after being arrested for allegedly taking upskirt photos. Following his arrest, the 39-year-old officer was escorted back to the station when he suddenly attempted to grab the weapon, resulting in chaos.
The police reported that this afternoon, they received a call about a 35-year-old woman who was allegedly filmed without her consent by a man on an escalator in Tsim Sha Tsui. Officers responded to the scene and, after preliminary investigations, arrested the 39-year-old man on suspicion of voyeurism, taking him back to the police station for further inquiries.
Later, while at the station, the arrested man suddenly attempted to seize a firearm from a male officer. He was quickly subdued and arrested again.
During the struggle, two male officers sustained injuries while restraining the suspect, who also incurred injuries. All three individuals were conscious and transported to the hospital for treatment.
