8th January 2025 – (Hong Kong) A video circulating on social media captures a startling incident in Mong Kok, where a cyclist had a narrow escape after a van driver unexpectedly opened their door. The footage shows the cyclist riding along Tong Mi Road towards the One Mong Kok Road Commercial Centre when he encountered a parked van. As he attempted to navigate around the vehicle, the van’s door suddenly swung open, knocking the cyclist off balance and causing him to fall into the middle of the road.
Fortunately, a taxi was approaching at that moment and managed to brake sharply, avoiding hitting the cyclist. After the fall, the cyclist quickly got back on his feet, appearing to suffer no major injuries. Online commentators expressed their shock at the close call, with many praising the taxi driver’s swift reaction, which prevented what could have been a serious accident.
