7th July 2025 – (Manila) The Philippines has reported approximately ₱760.5 billion (around $13.1 billion) in revenue from nearly 6 million international tourists in 2024. Although this figure did not meet the ambitious target of 7.7 million visitors, it still marks a 9.15% increase compared to the 5.45 million tourists recorded in 2023, as per the latest data from the Department of Tourism (DOT).
Of the international visitors in 2024, 91.42%—over 5.4 million—were foreigners, while the remaining 8.58% (510,383) comprised overseas Filipinos. Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco announced that the revenue for 2024 surpassed pre-pandemic levels, exceeding the ₱600.01 billion ($10.32 billion) achieved in 2019 by 26.75%, reflecting a recovery rate of 126.75% for the tourism sector.
Frasco remarked, “These figures indicate that the Philippine tourism industry is not only recovering but also evolving and expanding, significantly contributing to the nation’s economic stability and growth.” She highlighted the impressive increase in tourism revenue over the past year, underscoring its impact on job creation and economic resilience, particularly in rural and underserved communities.
South Korea remains the largest source of foreign tourists, with arrivals rising to over 1.57 million in 2024, representing more than 26% of the total market share. The United States follows as the second-largest source, with Japan, China, and Australia also contributing to the influx of visitors.
