19th January 2025 – (Beijing) The People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Southern Theatre Command executed a joint maritime and air combat patrol in the South China Sea from Friday to Saturday, as part of efforts to maintain peace and stability in the region. The command confirmed the operation in a statement issued on Saturday.
This announcement follows reports from the Philippines, where the Philippine Navy conducted exercises in the same waters on Friday. The PLA emphasised that its military activities are aimed at managing any disturbances in the South China Sea, reaffirming its commitment to regional security amid ongoing tensions.
