Police and immigration officials conduct raids in Yau Ma Tei, arrest 26 individuals

14th January 2025 – (Hong Kong) Authorities in the Yau Ma Tei district launched a crackdown on illegal immigrants, unlawful workers, and vice activities yesterday. The operation, conducted in collaboration with personnel from the Immigration Department, involved surprise inspections at multiple locations, resulting in the arrest of 26 individuals aged between 21 and 55.

Among those detained were 23 women from mainland China holding two-way permits, along with two Indonesian women and one Filipino woman. They face various charges, including overstaying their visas, breaching conditions of stay, and engaging in employment without proper authorisation. All individuals have been taken into custody for further investigation, with some expected to be referred to relevant authorities for follow-up actions.
