12th January 2025 – (Prague) A devastating fire at the U Kojota restaurant in Most, a city located approximately 100 kilometres north of Prague, has resulted in six fatalities and left six others with serious injuries, authorities reported on Sunday.
The blaze erupted shortly before midnight on Saturday while the restaurant was still open. Preliminary investigations suggest that an overturned gas heater may have sparked the fire. More than 60 firefighters worked tirelessly to bring the situation under control, finally declaring the fire extinguished by 1am.
The injured individuals were promptly transported to hospitals in Most and surrounding areas for treatment. Interior Minister Vit Rakusan visited the scene on Sunday morning and confirmed that approximately 30 patrons and residents from a nearby apartment building were evacuated safely.
Most Mayor Marek Hrvol described the incident as the worst tragedy of its kind in the city’s recent history,
