18th July 2021 – (Hong Kong) The Centre for Health Protection of the Department of Health announced earlier today (18th) that two newly confirmed cases were both imported cases.
Both patients were infected with L452R variant virus, of which A 75-year-old man who was diagnosed after arriving in Hong Kong from the United States has received two doses of Comirnaty vaccine.
One of the imported cases was a 75-year-old man (Case No. 11958). He was asymptomatic and arrived in Hong Kong from the United States on 16t July on flight no AC015. He was found to be carrying the L452R variant virus. He was vaccinated in the United States on 30th April and 21st May respectively.
The second imported case was a 25-year-old female domestic helper (Case No. 11959) who arrived in Hong Kong from Bangladesh on 14th July with flight number QR818. She was also asymptomatic. She was also found to have the L452R variant virus. The sample was positive on the third day and she had stayed at Silka Seaview Hotel in Yau Ma Tei.
In addition, Hong Kong has so far recorded less than 5 preliminary confirmed cases.
