18th January 2025 – (Jerusalem) A ceasefire in the Gaza Strip is set to take effect on Sunday, 19th January at 8.30am local time, according to a statement from the Qatari foreign ministry spokesman, Majed al-Ansari. The announcement, made via X, confirmed that the ceasefire would commence at 0630 GMT.
As part of the coordinated efforts between the involved parties and mediators, al-Ansari urged residents to exercise caution and await further instructions from official sources. The timing of the ceasefire had previously been uncertain; however, Israel’s cabinet has approved a deal concerning the exchange of hostages and prisoners, with no prisoners expected to be released before 1400 GMT.
