4th November 2023 – (Hong Kong) In a recent incident, an injured monkey was discovered in Cheung Sha Wan. At approximately 7.17am on the 4th of November, a morning jogger came across the distressed animal lying on a hillside, with blood flowing from its head. Concerned for its well-being, the jogger promptly reported the situation for assistance. Rescue personnel swiftly arrived at the scene, cordoning off a section of the nearby hiking trail.

Upon the arrival of the rescue team, the monkey, in a state of agitation, attempted to climb up a tree as multiple individuals approached. However, due to its weakened condition, the monkey ultimately collapsed once again. The incident prompted the involvement of personnel from the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) who were summoned to provide assistance. The exact cause of the monkey’s injury remains unknown at this time.

Once the SPCA personnel arrived, they carefully captured the monkey using a net, ensuring its safety during the process. Subsequently, the injured primate was transported back to the SPCA centre, where it will undergo a thorough examination by a qualified veterinarian to assess its condition and provide necessary treatment.
